According to a cnn.com article Apple's days of dominating the MP3 market are numbered. They cite a number of industry resources and Sony and Samsungs positioning as recognizable brands with significant assets amongst other reasons for the expected decline. Apple is also portrayed as being so stubborn and stuck in their ways that they are viewed as "almost a cult" by one insider from the record industry. I know personally I would love to see some more competition drive prices down on both the players and the mp3 files themselves though I can't really complain as the vast majority of my music has come from my own CD collection...
